I wanted to write a sentimental post .. a romantic post about our anniversary. But hubby is sick with a flu, and my brain is fried. There's a verse in the Bible that is a blue print of a growing, lasting, vital marriage... I decided to post that instead:
" ... Let the husband fulfill his duty to his wife, and likewise also the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does; and likewise also the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Stop depriving one another, except by agreement for a time that you may devote yourselves to prayer, and come together again lest Satan tempt you because of yor lack of self-control." (I Cor 7:3-5)
Marriage built on grace:
Grace releases and affirms. It doesn't smother.
Grace values the dignity of individuals. It doesn't destroy.
Grace supports and encourages. It isn't jealous or suspicious.
The more the grace of God is awakened in a marriage, the less husbands will attempt to control and restrict and the less wives will feel the need to "please no matter what". It makes marriage easier to manage. (taken from Grace awaking by Charles Swindoll)

Happy Anniversary from Kansas!
Happy Anniversary! I loved your post. The Bible truly does contain everything we need for a loving, healthy marriage. The book I'm reading now ("Sacred Marriage") reminds us that Jesus used the metaphor of marriage to reflect God's ministry of reconciliation to the world. What a beautiful thought. Blessings to both of you!
