Facing The Giants

I finally was able to watch the movie Facing the Giants last night, and I am glad I did. Our whole family watched it, and it's a blessed family time.

In the movie it showed coach Grant Taylor waking up at 3:30 AM (or so) in the morning reading the Bible, desperately waiting on God to show him what to do. Funny, I woke up this morning at around 3:30 AM (or so) . Despite my hope that my "Monday morning anxiety" will not manifest this morning because of this inspiring movie last night, I found myself waking up with a very "tight bite". No wonder my tooth fillings get badly damaged. My boss' dentist told him that my boss bite really tight causing damage to his teeth. And a tight bite could be a sign of stress. (Well Lord, here's a giant I need to face and conquer: anxiety).

Anyway, back to Facing the Giants, the movie is very inspiring. I know I'd buy myself a copy. Hubby could read my mind because while we were watching this DVD, he said, "now I know you like this - but we don't need to buy this DVD - we can always borrow this from E&K, who let us borrow it last night." Well, I definitely won't buy a new copy because when I checked this morning at the bookstore it costs $24.00. I will however search for this in second hand stores and will buy a cheaper used copy.

I will not attempt to do a review on this movie. I know there's a lot of that already. One of the many things this movie did to me was reminded me of a song I used to always sing when I was a young Christian about 15 years ago. It is based on Psalm 18:

I will call upon the Lord
Who is worthy to be praised
So shall I be saved from my enemies
The Lord liveth and blessed be the Rock
And let the God of my salvation be exalted
The Lord liveth and blessed be the Rock
And let the God of my salvation be exalted

Arthur is right - this movie is now part of my " favorite movies list". Happy Monday everyone - knowing that God goes before us, let's go face our giants without fear - I will!

I really liked it, too! I about lost it when that boy and his father anonymously gave the coach a new truck! I was weeping all over the place at his reaction. :) God is great!

By the way, Amazon has the DVD for about $15!

We loved this movie as well! Great story and awesome message.

Check out the other one, Fly Wheel. It isn't as professionally produced but the tale is incredibly moving!

I enjoyed that, too. My husband, who isn't walking with the Lord right now, watched it with us and seemed to enjoy it, too. It was a little preachy, but I also think that some of the other junk out there is so UN preachy, that I'm okay with that. :)

Please join me in prayer for Princess Annie this Friday.

Thanks for stopping by my place lately. This has become one of my husbands favorites. We rented it one weekend and he watched it 3 or 4 times. The whole meaning of dependance and leaning on God in all circumstances - it had great meaning for us. Thanks for sharing your review and I hope your Mondays are less anxiety ridden.
