Sunday Scribbling: Wicked

The heart is deceitful above all things,
and desperately wicked: who can know it?
Jeremiah 17:9

Timothy David Martyn Cox - that guy is wicked...wicked to the max. It made me sick reading the news...reading about what he had done.... the 700 people in that child porn ring were wicked. Wicked sick. How could they do what they did? How can they watch such stuff? How can they take advantage and abuse innocent kids...innocent babies... Oh, they are wicked. Plain wicked.

But what about the terrorists who kill innocent victims to pursue what they think is a worthy cause? still wicked...

And then in the news there's the husband who killed his wife; and the wife who killed her husband. wicked? yes... still wicked.

What if the wife didn't kill the husband ... just cheated on him? wicked? I think it's still wicked.

What if the husband didn't cheat on the wife - just enjoys countless hours of watching pornography? wicked? yes, still is wicked.

Now let's move closer to home. What about the lie we sometimes tell to avoid being in trouble. Or the anger we carry in our hearts? What about the jealousy, envy or lust? what about the selfishness? wicked? somewhat wicked? definitely wicked?

And then there's the indifference, the apathy, the neglect, and the irresponsibility. Wicked? It might still be....

Good points Liza. Sin is still sin regardless how small or large the action is.

I can't even watch the news anymore... I agree wholeheartedly.

It's good the world doesn't put me in charge of dealing with pedophiles... you'd see a level of violent retaliation the likes of which you've never imagined. I'm not necessarily proud that I feel this violently strong about these pieces of human excrement -- but I can't help it... I was once a victim.

Yes, I agree. What strikes me most, is that people no longer accept wickedness for what it is. That's sad and wrong.

And thanks for your comment on my old blog. That was getting too much for me to manage and I needed a break. But I missed writing, so I've started a new blog just for some of the writing I'm doing.

This is wickedness, no doubt! Sin is sin at all levels.

Excellent post Liza! Our hearts are wicked when we think only of ourselves, our own wants and needs, and fears. Thank God His blood covers our wickedness!

Very thought-provoking. And so true. So sad.
