God First

I need to remind myself of this today:

Put God First in Trust. "Jesus did not commit Himself unto them … for He knew what was in man."John 2:24-25

Our Lord trusted no man; yet He was never suspicious, never bitter, never in despair about any man, because He put God first in trust; He trusted absolutely in what God's grace could do for any man. If I put my trust in human beings first, I will end in despairing of everyone; I will become bitter, because I have insisted on man being what no man ever can be - absolutely right. Never trust anything but the grace of God in yourself or in anyone else.

Put God's Needs First. "Lo, I come to do Thy will, O God." Hebrews 10:9

A man's obedience is to what he sees to be a need; Our Lord's obedience was to the will of His Father. The cry to-day is - "We must get some work to do; the heathen are dying without God; we must go and tell them of Him." We have to see first of all that God's needs in us personally are being met. "Tarry ye until. . . ." The purpose of this College is to get us rightly related to the needs of God. When God's needs in us have been met, then He will open the way for us to realize His needs elsewhere.

Put God's Trust First. "And whoso receiveth one such little child in my name receiveth Me." Matthew 18:5

God's trust is that He gives me Himself as a babe. God expects my personal life to be a "Bethlehem." Am I allowing my natural life to be slowly transfigured by the indwelling life of the Son of God? God's ultimate purpose is that His Son might be manifested in my mortal flesh.

Run For Hope

This is my Ragamuffin Top Challenge Accomplishment for this week: I ran a 5k for Kit.

By the way, I am setting a new goal. My friend Cassie is encouraging me to do a 10K in July. Can I do it? We'll see. I will post more next week. In the meantime, enjoy the slide show above :)

A Welcome Like Heaven

I shared about the home coming of our pastor Kit on this post. Kit was diagnosed with leukemia several months ago and after two unsuccessful chemo treatments on Honolulu, the doctors did not recommend another one. We are not giving up hope. Our trust is in God.

So from Honolulu, they came home to Maui on Sunday afternoon. One of our church members put together and excellent slide show which I'd like to share with you HERE....

Before you go there, I also would like to mention that I am blogging at the Johnsons' Ohana Blog. The "coming home" was mentioned there several times as an illustration of how our friend Joey will be welcoming us in heaven someday. When you get a chance, I encourage you to leave a comment for my friends Karen and Joe whose grief is beyond words at this time.

And so this Thusday, I am thankful for:
1) Eternal Life
2) Family
3) Church and Friends
4) Healing
5) Blogging
6) Rest and Peace In Christ

And This Is One Of The Many Reasons Why I Love Hope Chapel

One of our pastors, Kit, came home from the hospital today. A lot of us gathered to give him a warm welcome, to show our love and support. It's a very warm welcome I'd say ....

Welcome Home Kit!

UPDATE: Kit just posted about this on his blog. Check it out!

Because We Love Kit

A bunch of us ran the Na Holo Wahine 2008 5K Run. Since Kit (our pastor who is battling Lukemia at this time) is an athlete himself (he's actually an excellent athlete who did the Iron Man), we decided to dedicate this run for him. We are praying that the result of the bone marrow test on May 13 would be well - that there won't be any cancer cells left, so that he can start the bone marrow transplant ASAP. We believe.

And this is what's in that shirt we are wearing
(yes, that's Kit, the IronMan):

And while I was running, I also prayed for Mike, Stef and Heather. I am also praying for Kate. We're beating cancer prayer by prayer, through love, through faith. Keep fighting - we're praying.

Spiritual Bootcamp

March 8, 2008 - I thought I would be at Las Vegas at that time to live blog the Bunco Championship event. At first I was sad that I did not get to go to Vegas, but after thinking more about it, and after all the things that happened that weekend, I am pretty sure it was God's will for me to stay on Maui. I am glad I am able to attend the Women's Ministry Spiritual Bootcamp that weekend.

I was going to write an extensive post about the spiritual bootcamp but a week had already passed and I still have not had the chance to post what I learned during the camp (there were a lot), so I am doing a slide show for a start. Hopefully later I can post more about it (yes, the lessons learned), but for now, please enjoy the photos:

I attended a Women's Ministry Conference at Hope Chapel yesterday. I learned a lot. I have lots to share in the coming days. Stay tuned...
