Quiet Times on Maui - Rebooting My Morning Routine

Why is it that it's so hard to "Be Still and Know" that God is God?

I wake up very early in the morning everyday. My internal body clock is set at 4:00 AM/ I must have been a rooster in my past life. No, not really because I don't believe in that. The point is I wake up every early and I have a full 2 hours to myself before my family wakes up.  What I do with that 2 hours is entirely up to me.

This is what I think I should do in order:

Make my Chai Tea - 5 mins
Read my Bible while enjoying my chai tea - 5 mins.
Reflect and Meditate on what I have just read - 15 mins
Prayers - 15 mins.

TOTAL: 40 minutes. That's 40 minutes of quiet time and re-filling.  A great way to start the day.  It's 40 minutes, therefore I still have 80 minutes left before my family wakes up.

Next thing I need to do?

Exercise! - 30 minutes  (an hour or more on the weekends). And while exercising, I can still continue my reflection, meditation and prayers ....

Now let's talk about what I really do during those 2 hours of quite times in the morning.

On second thought, let not talk about it. It's kind of depressing.  It's embarrassing to know that I am spending the first 2 hours of my waking time dealing with the "urgent" instead of the "important".

This post is my attempt to make myself accountable. I starting anew. I am re-booting my life starting with rebooting my morning routine. Starting today, I am doing what I think I should be doing.

Yay, Liza...yes, the important, not the urgent. The important gives strength, the urgent only exhausts. Go lady go.

This is a very important decision. Important is important and if we can organize important and urgent things of the day efficiently our battle of success is won. Doing important things would give you strength to keep doing important things first rather than just finishing the urgent things. I am especially impressed by the idea of having full 2 hours of me-time. I wish even I had that inner clock set to wake me up early morning so that I can also enjoy some good reading and meditation time to power me up for rest of the day without being disturbed by any one. This is a very good start. Please keep posting on how you succeeded in following your schedule and your experience about how did it helped you. I would be highly motivated. I’ll be waiting for your next post to find more inspiring experiences and suggestions. Thank you!

Dear Liza, thank you so much for commenting on my morning sharing.
Like I stated "you are the reason I started writing at 70 years.
I love your morning routine which is similar to mine.
I wake early and pray before the dawn pray and exercise almost before the day breaks. A lifelong habit. I do not let my feet hit the floor in the morning without praying and putting on the armour of God and also fall asleep doing the same thing...
