Tackle It Tuesday: Microwave (Updated to Join Works For Me Wednesday)

I broke our microwave the other day. I was going to heat up a cup of water, when I closed the door of the microwave I heard a snap - then, wala! it broke! - I mean the door wouldn't open!

So hubby came to the rescue and tackled it. Well, he was not able to tackle it completely because a part was broken and needs to be replaced. He went to some appliance parts store online and found a part - it w0uld only cost us $5.00. the problem was, the shipping cost to Maui is $30!!!! I kid you not! So for a $5 part we have to pay for $30 shipping - no way! We then turned to Ebay - the good trusted Ebay, and we were able to find the parts with a lower shipping cost.

So the tackle is to be continued until the parts arrive. While waiting for the part, let's go to 5 Minutes For Moms to check on otehr tacklers :)

UPDATED:

As I was thinking of what to share for this week's Works For Me Wednesday, I got reminded that EBAY worked for us in this situation. It saved us money and provided the much needed part for our microwave. And so I say EBAY works!

That is crazy! The shipping is more expensive than the part needed replacement.

Wow! I could buy a microwave for $50 here. Ouch. Which, left up to my handyman status, I would have to buy a new one. :)

Shipping is getting way out of hand. And like you say it is higher that the price of most things you order. Glad to here you found it cheaper. And you have a handy hubby.

Great problem solving! I forget to check ebay sometimes- (but sometimes I avoid it because there's so much interesting stuff on there and I get distracted easily.)

I always love ebay : ). I am SO impressed that your husband can fix a microwave. Mine is wonderful, but he absolutely can not fix a microwave...
