Choices

I had been pondering this thought this yesterday. The more I think about it, the more I realize that our life is a series of "choices". We make hundreds of choices a day - choices that direct our lives and creates a link to another choice, and then another.

For example, here are some of my thoughts and choices dilemma this morning when I woke up:

Should I get up or should I try to sleep again? (got up)
Should I check my blogs or should I make coffee first? (checked my blog)
Should I continue blogging or should I make coffee now? (brewed coffee)

Notice there was no "Bible reading or quite time" yet on the choices. I was just being honest. Although I must say my first thought when I woke up was "Lord, what should I do today?"

Here's another series of thoughts and choices to make:

Should I continue blogging or should I put on my shoes to run in the treadmill?
Should I drink coffee first or type some more?

Should I do a garage sale today (which I had been wanting to do with the kids since summer vacation started) or should I just donate all these to Salvation Army and just relax and have fun with the kids?

Should I do chores or exercise? If I don't do the chores immediately, they pile up. If I don't exercise I my muffin top grows (incidentally, I was told by my husband that there's another "meaning" of muffin top aside of the belly hanging out from my waist - some guys knows what it is he said - from an old rock song. Not so modest so i won't say. But I guess you can guess. Anyway, he said I should be careful using that term. Well, I am using it as my belly description. There!)

Anyway, back to choices, I really should be hopping on the treadmill. I "fell out of the Ragamuffin Soul's Ragamuffintop Challenge" for weeks, I need to get back in. Thanks to Gretchin for her encouragement on this post, I'm back.

Weight: 107 lbs. (I started with 105 - as you can see, I am going backwards and it needs to be reversed back to 105 lbs.)
Goal: to run 10 K in 6 months.
Another goal: treadmill exercise at least 3 times a week. More is better.
New photo will be posted shortly. The one on top is from my first Ragamuffin Challenge post.

So, how are you doing? or any advice or encouragement? Please let me know here :)

Liza, great post! Don't worry about the weight gain... we can do this! The good thing is that you are asking the right questions. If I can add some wisdom to your already awesome post, I'd say chose carefully what you eat... I think the eating part is more important than the exercise. I know, look at my post and do what I say... hahaha. Anyway, keep it up. We are all in this together!!! :0)

Thanks Marcelo! And yes, you are so right - I had been negligent in my "food choices", so I should make that a goal too. Being careful of what I eat. It Makes a difference.

You're small to begin with, so I think exercise would be good to "tone up"... you seem to be in pretty good shape. I'm starting Pilates...

I think you're doing fine so far. You've realized everything is about choices and what we do is based on them.

My kids were gone this weekend and surprisingly I decided to choose to workout.

Keep it up and finish strong.

Hey Liza, great post about choices. Its so true! Each day we have choices and they can set us back or they can move us forward. Like a monopoly game. I am so glad to see that although you fell off the wagon for a moment you are getting back on. A few good choices and you will start to see a difference.

We're all here behind you on this one!

I like this post. We choose to make things a priority, and it's amazing to me that quiet time, prayer time, and time in the Word seem to often be edged out my reading blogs! Fortunately today I was more disciplined and chose to spend some time in the Word, but it seems like a constant battle to be disciplined in that area.

Good luck with the workouts this week!

I think sometimes I hate choices so I leave things until there's really no choice that they get done (like laundry).
Anyway, I've only ever heard the term in relation to belly over jeans description!

10K in six months? I could probably do it, but it would take me all six months to total 10K. :)

I have a suggestion if you don't like running on the treadmill. We have our treadmill in the living room with the tv. I have started watching tv series on DVD while I walk (not run but walk!!). I find that if it is a good show I "forget" about walking and before I know it 30 minutes has past. Most 60 minute shows are really 45 minutes!
Hope that helps!
I wrote about choices today too!!

It's amazing to me how a small change in your choices can result in a HUGE difference. I think you have it nailed by saying it's all in the choices. Good luck and welcome back to the challenge!
