Grieving Mothers on Mothers Day...

Photo from Bring The Rain Blog. The Story of Audrey Caroline

I know I said I am going to do a Mothers Day series. I know I said I will start next week. But tonight ... tonight ... my heart goes out to the Moms who I think would have a little bit of sadness comes Mothers Day. How can we encourage them? I don't know ... flowers may help ... but it will never suffice. Hugs? yes, but they still would not be their child's hugs...

I'm thinking of the wife of my co-worker whose son died on a motorcycle accident this year. It's her only son. Only son ...

I'm thinking of Beth who lost her twin sons James and Jakes just a few months back ...

I'm thinking of the Mothers of soldiers who died in the war this past couple of years...

and I am thinking of Angie, Audrey Caroline's mom. Please go to her family's site to read more about them. (Warning: make sure you have a box of tissues next to you.)

How can we help comfort grieving moms this coming Mothers Day? If you have any ideas, please let me know....

UPDATE 4/27/08
I was browsing my sitemeter tonight to make sure no "weird*s" are lurking. I notice a search find that lead to my post on grieving mom. The search words are: "My first Mothers day After My son Died". It broke my heart. I pray for that mom. I am thankful she landed on this post and I hope she was comforted even for just a little bit. In the research result I found a link that wrote about positive things grieving mom does so i added it to the list of links below:

The best advice I can give...

Recognize that she is a mother, even if her baby/child is not here. The first Mother's Day after our first daughter died was rough. But a small word of kindness made a big difference in my day.
