Snow On Haleakala, Maui

My photos for this week's weekly winners are actually taken in 2005; when we drove to the peak of Haleakala Mountain late afternoon (stayed there until 10 PM) to experience the snow. Who says it does not snow on Maui?

This week it snowed again on Haleakala, but we couldn't go because the roads were closed (conditions unsafe - icy wet), so I am glad we were able to in Jan 2005. Below are the photos:

I found some winner photos on the net of the Haleakala Summit
when it snowed back in 2002. Click HERE.

I love the one of the two girls! They look as though they are having a ball.

The mere idea of snow on Maui just seems so wrong...

So cute! Everyone looks like they are having so much fun.

I love Haleakala! My family has been spending Christmas in Maui for the last 15 years. We have hiked down the crater a number of times. It is such a magical place. I haven't seen it with snow, though. ;-)
