to us a son is given,
and the government
will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God,
Everlasting Father,
Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government
and peace there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
and over his kingdom, establishing
and upholding it with justice
and righteousness from
that time on and forever.
The zeal of the LORD Almighty
will accomplish this.
Isaiah 9:6-7

Writer's Island's Prompt for this week is "The Promise", and the verse above is the first thought I had when I read it. There are many promises that I can talk about, but I chose this one because I am in the Christmas mood and I believe this is the heart of Christmas. The verse above was written in the ancient days, by the prophet Isaiah. It was then partly fulfilled when Jesus was born, and this promise is still being fulfilled today.
I understand that not all believe what I believe, and I respect that. Of course I hope that you will someday believe what I believe, but for now, my promise is not to "bug you" but to just be here with you and be an encouragement in whatever way I can. Thank you for visiting. For more inspiring and creative pieces, please visit Writer's Island.

Thanks for the comment Jen.
I understand I don't have to apologize for it - I just want to be sensitive to the many "writers" from who would come visit... as I know we don't all have the same beliefs :)
Thanks for the visit Jen :)
I'm glad that your faith fulfills you, and I'm glad and grateful that you respect the boundaries of others who believe differently. Thank you for your acceptance and tolerance of diversity.
Merry Christmas, from one who is celebrating a different holiday this evening.
Thanks for stopping by! Good post on the true meaning of Christmas!
And I do believe, maybe not just as you do, but close as we are, after all diffenrent humans beings. I think I agree with just jen the most! And I love your answer. Isaiah is the most amazing OT book!
Thanks for sharing that with us!
Merriest Christmas wishes to you and yours ... blessings, JP/deb
