Works For Me: BlogHer
In October of 2006 I started blogging. I "needed" to blog. There were so many pent up emotions, so much stress, some disappointments, and a bunch of other stuff going on in my mind that I needed a "dumping ground" so to speak.
I guess I could have just wrote on my journal. But I needed something more. Even though I blogged mainly for myself, unconsciously I knew I was longing for some kind of interaction; some affirmation, some feedback. Therefore I blogged.
I blogged daily. I checked my blog a couple of times a day. Several times. OK, a lot of times a day. I found it real therapeutic, and I started loving it.
Then came the dilemma. Hubby told me I was spending too much time blogging. It caused friction in our relationship. And yet, come to think of it, it was also some friction in our relationship that actually led me to blog. So I stood my ground. I did not stop blogging despite some of his "not so nice" remarks about it.
After several months of blogging he changed his mind. He saw how I really loved it and how it really helps me. So it's not a source of conflict anymore.
Now, here's what works for me (and you probably already have guessed by now). Just recently, I was accepted at BlogHer network to carry a Blogher Ad in my blog. And so while I do something I love, I get a little "fun money" doing it! Blogher Ads works! Of course I m spending that fun money to do fun stuff with my family - the point is I get paid for doing something that actually is helping me :)
The women at BlogHer are wonderful and I am glad I am a part of it. If you'd like to try and apply, go there. Applications are still open (I don't know for how long).
For more Works for me Wednesdays, visit Shannon at Rocks in My Dryer. In fact, she too is a member of the BlogHer Network. I guess it works for her too :)

I have a similar situation with my husband! I've been wondering about BlogHer ads, because they seem tp be more eye-pleasing than some. Thanks for the tip.
singforhim, BlogHer Ads are really high quality. I don't even have to post anything about it - they create the ad, the code and their advertisers are of high caliber. I did this post not to promote them but to really express how it worked for me. Of course, we have to do our part of "maintaining" the blogs to their standards. But since I love blogging, making it a "nice" blog is not a problem ;)
Thanks for your comment.
I just signed up with BlogHer ads too - it was very easy and I definitely like how they look and what they promote much better than some of the others I've seen. :)
