Speak Lord, Your Servant Listens...

It's Sunday morning and I want to sleep in so bad. But I kept on waking up early. Finally at 4:30 AM I got out of bed.

While lying in bed at around 4AM, desperately trying to go back to sleep, I started thinking about my relationship with God. "Lord, I really need you ... each day and time of my life ... because without you my life would be a mess .."

Then I would toss and turn, trying to get back to sleep again. But the attempt to go back to sleep was futile. "Lord, is there something you want to tell me?"...

My thoughts were directed to the story of young Samuel in I Samuel 3:1-10

1 The boy Samuel ministered before the LORD under Eli. In those days the word of the LORD was rare; there were not many visions.

2 One night Eli, whose eyes were becoming so weak that he could barely see, was lying down in his usual place. 3 The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the temple [a] of the LORD, where the ark of God was.

4 Then the LORD called Samuel. Samuel answered, "Here I am." 5 And he ran to Eli and said, "Here I am; you called me." But Eli said, "I did not call; go back and lie down." So he went and lay down.

6 Again the LORD called, "Samuel!" And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, "Here I am; you called me." "My son," Eli said, "I did not call; go back and lie down."

7 Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD : The word of the LORD had not yet been revealed to him.

8 The LORD called Samuel a third time, and Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, "Here I am; you called me." Then Eli realized that the LORD was calling the boy. 9 So Eli told Samuel, "Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, 'Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening.' " So Samuel went and lay down in his place.

10 The LORD came and stood there, calling as at the other times, "Samuel! Samuel!". Then Samuel said, "Speak, for your servant is listening."

I think I need to read the Bible some more.. then be still and listen.

I'm finding myself at a loss for words
And the funny thing is it's okay
The last thing I need is to be heard
But to hear what You would say

CHORUS
Word of God speak
Would You pour down like rain
Washing my eyes to see
Your majesty
To be still and know
That You're in this place
Please let me stay and rest
In Your holiness
Word of God speak

I'm finding myself in the midst of You
Beyond the music, beyond the noise
All that I need is to be with You
And in the quiet hear Your voice

REPEAT CHORUS 2x

I'm finding myself at a loss for words
And the funny thing is it's okay

Amen Liza! I love that song and actually posted that same video on my blog once also....it's so powerful. And yes we both have insomnia in common. Next time I am up in the middle of the night I will remember to pray for you.

It's my stinking hormones that are whacked out that keep me up!! :)
