I've read the first one and I really liked it. I didn't agree 100% with everything, but I thought it had some good biblical truth.

Hi Amanda,

I actually has not read the book. We watched the DVD series and I didn't like the way it was presented. Add to that, it wasn't really a good timing when we watched it.

Thanks for your input. One of these days I'll try to read it.

I will have to look into these. I really liked The Five Love Languages.

Liza - you made me laugh! Dh and I thoroughly enjoyed Love and Respect (we did the dvd series with our small group). Why didn't you like it?

Oh, I just read your other comment. You went through the DVD series as well? Interesting that you didn't like the way it was presented. What specifically? I'm always curious as to how other people respond to things we've studied.

I've read Gary Smalley but not that specific book. Tell us what you loved about it.

His Needs, Her Needs (we call it HN Squared) is one of our absolute faves and was the first marriage book we ever read together (while we were engaged -years and years ago). Definitely helped our thinking tremendously.

Thanks for sharing!!

I like having a big library of marriage books--everybody seems to offer some helpful insight. As for my favorite, it has to be "Sacred Marriage." It really changed my way of looking at my marriage. Awesome book!

Love and Respect is my favorite so far.
My wife and I are leading a class based on it right now. The overall principles are really working at improving our marriage, but every marriage is different and may need a different message.
How great that there are so many resources and people willing to help.

There are several His Needs Hers Needs type books by that author. I recommend those books. You said, "Houston we have a problem." Well, here I am! Houston! Right near NASA. I also recommend Love Busters by Willard F. Harley, Jr. and Becoming One by Joe Beam. I also recommend the Dynamic Marriage workshop, usually offered through churches. It's a Biblically based program, and it did wonders for my marriage.

Cracks me up.
I love the concept of Love and Respect, and it was really, really good for us. BUT he does drive me a little crazy on the videos!!!
