Grace of God, Amazing Grace

God's promptings are all over the place. The Holy Spirit is whispering ... leading... teaching... There is a lesson God wants me to learn ... to know deeply ... to experience fully ... it's called "grace".

Grace? Isn't that something that I am good at? I mean, isn't that a quality I already have? At least that's what I hear from friends and co-workers. They say I have a high tolerance and patience - even to the most annoying people. I also am very accepting, not judgmental, and always forgiving. Isn't that what grace is all about?

But the more I learn about grace, the more I know I don't know much about it, and I am far from being "good at it". It's something simple yet profound. Therefore we are exhorted on II Peter 3:15 "But Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ".

Here are some of the incidents which I called promptings:

* Art and James talked about Grace in their blog. When they discussed Philip Yancey's book "What's So Amazing About Grace. I enjoyed reading their discussion and learned from it.

* Last Sunday, at church, our guest speaker Danny Lehman spoke and taught about grace. The whole teaching was about grace. Needless to say, it was very inspiring. Make sure you click the link for the notes.

* Today, while I was walking on treadmill I decided to read the last 3 chapters of the book Frazzled. Guess what? the last chapter is all about grace!

* Lastly, tonight I couldn't get this song out of my head :)

I could do with learning how to show a little more grace in my life right now. One individual in particular I'm having a real hard time being gracious towards. I guess we all have some ways to go before we become more like Jesus.
But yeah, don't you just love it when God's wanting to teach you something and grow you more into someone who is like Him.

Grace is not something I feel like an expert on. The verse from II Peter... Jesus' grace, God's grace, is our salvation. Not anything we do will make up for whether or not we accept His grace. "By grace you are saved through faith..." God's grace is what matters most. But you, my dear, seem to be a gracious person. I could take a lesson from you, I think.
