Work of God: A Mentor, A Friend

It is very interesting how God brings people on our lives to encourage us, to enrich us, to inspire us, and just to give us a friend. A couple of weeks ago I received an e-mail from a mom of a blogger friend. The name of the mom is E and the blogger friend is J. E mentioned how she likes my blog and how she too likes raising her hand in worship.

We started corresponding via e-mail. It was a blessing. One night, while thinking about E, I was reminded of a verse about how the older women in the church should disciple younger women. I thought for sure that verse was in Timothy, so opened my Bible and read I Timothy. It wasn't there. I read II Timothy. It wasn't there either. Where would that verse be? I gave up looking for it. I thought, maybe I already read it on Timothy and it's just a different version of the Bible so I missed it. I didn't know why I was stuck on Timothy, I guess I knew that verse would be found in an epistle that starts with a T.

And so my correspondence with E continues. We discovered how we are so much alike. Yes, so much alike, it's scary :)

A day or two after my futile search for the Bible Verse about older women discipling younger women, while I was perusing my sitemeter (making sure no weird people are reading my blog), I noticed a new URL visited me. I followed it, and guess what? In the header of that blog is the Bible Verse I was looking for! I have no idea why she visited my blog and how she visited my blog. I think the Holy Spirit led her to visit my blog to lead me to the verse I was looking for:

Titus 2:3-5 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

And so I thought, I'd share this story at A Dusty Frame. Lizzie is hosting a carnival of God's Works, and this is definitely a working of God.

My friend E's life is in itself a wonderful work of God. I am encouraging her to start blogging. Watch out J, you'll have a competition if and when she decides to blog ;)

I LOVED your opening sentence

"It is very interesting how God brings people on our lives to encourage us, to enrich us, to inspire us, and just to give us a friend"

I believe God knows we cant be lone Christians and blesses us lovingly
bless Him

Liza do you use bible gateway they are good for finding verses and I have found that by simply keying in part of the verse in google helps too

God is good
He has great plans for each and everyone of us
I also believe He is using the internet and mainly blogs to bring us together

its freaky sometimes
I feel as if He takes over
what I type and say particularly on my comments sometimes
May He continue to work through and for us
