Sunday Scribbling: Dear Diary

Dear Diary,

It has been a long time since I last wrote you, I apologize. Had it not been for Sunday Scribbling’s prompt, I probably would not have written to you today. I had been unfaithful … unfaithful to you that is. You see, I met this other friend named Blog. She is very similar to you, I tell her a lot of stuff going on in my life, except that she’s more social and you’re … more private. I am inclined to say that Blog is extrovert and you are introvert. Blog likes to go to carnivals and parties, you are glad to spend time with me and me alone.

Despite my unfaithfulness, and my neglect, please know that you are still very special to me. You see, with you I can share my innermost secret and no one will ever know. With Blog, she just has to share with others. That’s just the nature of her.

And so my dear diary, from now on… even though my friendship with Blog will remain, I will remember to visit you more often. I will spend more time with you, for you know me so well…. You know my need for quiet moments to renew my strength.

I like the way you personalised the difference between a diary and a blog.

i too am guilty of leaving off the written word to produce the typed... either way we are keeping in contact with our inner selves,, and i feel that is the most important thing....

I understand this too well. We neglect that handwritten journal and resort to logging!

Very creative and well expressed.

This was very clever, and so true! I'm glad I now have a blog, because before this I hadn't done any writing for a very long time.

I also love how you were able to make a distinction between a blog and a diary, and why you love doing both.

I think it is the "extrovert" aspect of the blog that keeps me more faithful than the diary. More outside pressure, perhaps?

Lovely.

I too use my journal and my blog differently. The posts on my blog are definitely put through a "do I want the world to read this" screen. There is absolutely no filter for the journal (but then, it is NOT for sharing, either).

Very true. I hope there is not any jealousy on either side.
