PMS and Perspective

Last night I posted some sentiments about our "ohana" and I decided to delete that post. I just realized that a lot of the "melancholic" emotions has to do with my PMS (Yes, the "M" came in today)...

However, more than realizing that it's PMS caused, I decided to delete the "pity me" post because of the news we got today.

Today our best friend (the host of the party we attended last night) called us to let us know that a close friend of theirs (childhood friends...their friends even before we met him, we are also friends but not as close as they are) was hit by a car last night and died (a very sudden death). I won't get into the details but it's a sad story. I started thinking how "petty" my problem was last night compared to this tragedy that happened to this family.

I know we should not compare problems but it does help us put in perspective when we see and hear what others are going through. Yes, we have ups and downs in our lives, but we should not get bogged down but the little details of life. Sure I was sad last night when I was reminded that we are not part of the two ohanas anymore...but at least we are alive and still have fellowship with them. This other friend of ours won't be here anymore and his family's life will never be the same.

So after reading this post I request that you say a prayer for Lehua and her family. Thanks.

Well said, Liza. Very sad for the family losing a loved one. Sending a prayer for them.

PMS...hmmmm...it does change my perspective and I need to keep better track of timing so I might watch my words.

Good thoughts.

I think it's great that you have perspective, but I don't see anything wrong with a pity party sometimes. It makes other people feel like they're not so crazy when they feel down about life also. But most important, so sorry about the person who died.

I prayed for them. Never be ashamed of your humanness, my friend. We all have it. Blessings to you and thank you for your honest, thoughtful post. Take care.
