Men In Love

I don't know what's up today. Today, I happen to read/watch 3 men in love to their wives/bride. It gave me hope. Hope that despite the escalating divorce rate... there are still many couples out there who are in love and are committed to each other ... and men who are hopelessly romantic...

Let me introduce to you these 3 men. I do not know them personally, but I am touched by the way they expressed their love to their wives/bride. It might take a couple minutes to read and watch all these. I truly hope you read and watch all of them. It'll make you feel warm and fuzzy all over:

1. Buzz - Buzz wrote a poem about his love for his wife. It was Boomama who directed us to this post. This poem melted our hearts away....

2. Matt - Matt wrote a letter to his wife Ginny for their Anniversary. If you've been reading this blog for a while, you'll recognize him. He is Eliot's dad. The letter is a testimony of his love to Ginny and their commitment to each other through thick and thin. Gave me goose bumps while reading it.

3. Rob - Rob could not contain his emotion during his wedding with Lea Salonga, as they pronounced their vows to each other. Lea is the most loved, most adored Filipina..and he just feels so blessed being married to her, and you could just feel how much he loves and adores her. I am posting the video of their wedding (it's a traditional Filipino Catholic wedding). I highly recommend that you sit down and watch the whole thing. Lea will be singing a song especially composed for this wedding titled "Two Words". Ahhhh, I cry everytime I watch this.... where's that box of tissue?...

I suppose I'm going through a rough time, because although I know these people love each other, it seemed cheesy to me. I would hate for a guy to sniffle like that so much. I'd be wondering "what did he drink?" "what is he hiding?" "Oh, sure, he'll be crying when he's had no sleep from the 5 kids they brought into the world..." I'm bad, I know.

mama p,

I understand what you're saying. I actually hesitated on putting this video here for the same reason you mentioned .. it seems "cheesy, and the groom is crying too much". But I know the background so it didn't appear too cheesy to me. Let's just say this guy is an "ordinary Filipino guy" who is getting married to a very famous person (see Wikipedia article when uou click Lea Salonga's name)...I think he is just truly overwhelmed that Lea is actually marrying him. Lea could have married some rich and famous Britton if she wanted to....

And to add a guess (or speculatio, I believe these 2 people have kept their relationship pure (I am betting my botton dollar on this) and so their honeymoon is something very very special to look forward too :)-

Hi - I know who Lea Salong is, so it makes sense he is emotional. And don't get me wrong - it's my own disappointment these days that is altering my vision of this. I love my husband, my kids, and all that... but life has kicked me in the butt as far as what I THOUGHT life would be and how it really turned out. It's not this Norman Rockwell idylic reality where my husband loves me so much he's moved to tears just to hold my hand. I find that so much of my relaxation and love comes from me and I'm letting go alot of this Romeo vision of what I thought marriage would be.

ARgggg...

I'm glad you put the video up. I adore her voice. And it reminds me, if anything, that perhaps if Rex were Christian, I wouldn't be so jaded.

I do love your blog.

Thanks mamap. I do love you blog too. I enjoy reading all your posts...love your spontaneity and transparency, and your writing talent...everything.

I just strated RE-reading a book a Abought a year ago (after a huge fight with my husband) titled "HIS NEED, HER NEEDS, For Parents" by Dr. Harley. It's an excellent book that I think you will enjoy ans is very much relevent to what you are saying in your comment. The catch is, husbands (or at least mine) do not like reading this kind of book, so I end up agreeing to all that Dr. Harley said and wrote but I can't really "force" or "expect" my husband to do his part. (sigh!). Oh well, I guess that's why we have a blog .. to vent out some of these things - LOL!

Shhh... I told my husband I wouldn't be talking about him on my blog but I just did. It's in the "comment" and not a post, so I guess it's not obvious. Plus, he does not read my blog anyway ;)....

Have a nice Sunday mamaP. Nice "blog chatting" with you :)

Liza - Thank you for the tip. I will indeed buy that book. I've seen him on Oprah I believe - an older handsome gentleman? Maybe 50? Anyway, I think so many of us women are similar - we want emotion from our men, but we also know we need to find it within us. And really, should the real man in our life be the man upstairs - to sort of fill that need that our husband's simply can't? I am such a brat to complain - I am so fortunate in my life. But oh well. Thanks for listening to these long comments. I can't really be as specific in my own blog just so much of my family (and his) reads it.

I will say an extra prayer for you this day, my friend. And keep on with the lovely Youtubes, cheesy or not. They are fodder for thinking.

What a life-affirming post. In a time when marriage is so under fire, it's lovely to have a tribute post. I, too, am unequally yoked (like MamaP), but these are hopeful for me, and I pray will be so for her, too. Blessings to you all.
