Be Anxious For Nothing

A dear blogging friend Jana of The Joy Box commented on my post today with a very thoughtful note: "I know Sunday's are sometimes a hard day for you because of Monday's back-to-work issue. How are you doing today? I'm praying for you."

She is right that Sundays are sometimes hard for me. God answered her prayers because tonight is a lot easier than other Sunday nights. I still feel some anxiety within me, but as I have learned last week, it is much better to basque in God's love during my anxious moments, than for me to engage in this battle nor dwell in the negatives. While browsing through my journal tonight, I found a little prayer poem I wrote on August 4, 2004. It goes:

Lord,
You are my peace in times of trouble
You are the only strength in my weakness
You are my direction in times of confusion
You are my hope in times of desperation
Your are my comfort in anxious moments
You are my Savior

This afternoon I noticed in my site meter that someone landed in my blog when she/he googled the phrase "Sunday afternoon anxiety". Sadly, I also noticed that she/he didn't stay long enough to read some of my previous posts. I sure hope that she/he was encouraged in some ways...even if only to realize that she/he is not alone in this. I would like to close this post with some encouraging verses, with the hope that when another person lands in this blog concerning "Sunday afternoon anxiety", he/she will be lifted up:

"Be anxious for nothing,
but in everything by prayer and supplication,
with thanksgiving,
let your requests be made known to God;
And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding
will guard your hearts and minds
through Christ Jesus, our Lord."

- Philippians 4:6-7
